Comments
i dont like this
....... Arwin Records was owned by Terry Melcher's dad Marty Melcher. There would be no reason to record in England unless it was for a Movie soundtrack. Bruce & Terry were in the Rituals AND then also recorded the same song in (with) the Rip Chords.
Why do so many comments say this is British ? Must be confused with some other later group called the Rituals in England.
I like the Rip Chords version better!
Produced by Kim Fowley. PJ Proby sings on this track.
+Goatstaog - I have now spoken with our lead guitarist who is also totally sure that PJ did not contribute vocals to This Is Paradise. He also remembers (which I had forgotten) that This Is Paradise was basically in the can when PJ arrived - we were already running through the sound check for Gone. We have not been able to trace the drummer or lead singer to conform this totally, but I am pretty sure that PJ was not on This Is Paradise. I think Kim, not being in the best of health during the interview may have got it wrong (which any of us can and often do, hence my wanting to get confirmation one way or the other.
Does anyone know if Arnie, lead singer for JAN & ARNIE, was part of this group? I remember hearing that after leaving Jan & Arnie he joiner a group called The Rituals for a short time as their lead singer.
What a great song.
Thanks for putting this up - it brings back fond memories. Just a couple of points - this was recorded by an English group in London during 1964. Also Pj Proby does not feature on this recording but does so on the other side "Gone
killer, thx
