About Peatbog Faeries

Scottish band based on the Isle Of Skye. The Peatbog Faeries are Scotlands best-known names in the contemporary folk music scene mixing celtic melodies with jazz and folk overtones. They have played to fans all over the world . They have won multiple awards and were winners and inducted to the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame. Theyve taken their own individual brand of Scottish tunes to audiences around the world, F.ormed in 1991, at a concet in Edidbane, they have been going ever since. Peter Morrison and Innes Hutton are the only remaining original members. The other three founding members were Davie Tait, Alan Edmunds and Ali Pentland. During a period of a few years, the band though personnel changes and a limited edition cassette entitled The Great Ceilidh Swindle was released in 1995. The line-up by this stage, as well as Peter and Innes, were Didi Findlay on fiddle and vocals, Ali Pentland on guitar, Dave Bagley on keyboards and Willie Molleson on drums. 1996 saw them sign to Greentrax, a scottish record label where they recorded ther album Mellowocity, which was to remain a Greentrax top 10 seller for nearly 15 years. More lineup changes occured ready to release the album Faerie Stories. Due to contractal reasons, the album wasn't released by Greentrax until 2001. It was self-released by the band in 2000 2002 saw a change not only on lineiup but thier musical dirction by adding a brass section, and Welcome to Dunvegas used this lineup. The next significant change came in 2003 when Roddy Neilson took over from Ben on fiddle, present guitarist Tom Salter replaced Ali Pentland and Leighton Jones assumed the keyboard role from Norman. This line-up recorded the album Welcome to Dunvegas. This lineup This line-up stayed constant for three albums, Croftwork in 2005What Men Deserve to Lose in 2007 and the Peatbogs first live album in 2009. More lineup changes happened, and the brass section were feautued on much of the 2012 album Dust The current lined Blackhouse in 2015, and celebrated their 25th anniversary, Live@25 in 2017..
